Rebecca Helgeson has over forty years  experience working in various settings with individuals who have an intellectual or developmental disability. Rebecca specializes in teaching others to be creative with solutions and in supporting self-determination efforts in methods that are person-centered and promote person-first practices. Rebecca believes that we promote individual choice and rights best by coaching, teaching and mentoring the individuals receiving supports as well as the staff who work the closest with them. Rebecca began her career as a direct support professional and has gained experience through positions as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation professional, QIDP, Quality Assurance and Risk Management Director, and a nationwide consultant in the area of I/DD.
