Navigating Transportation

By Norma Ramirez

The hardest part for me to go to places is having available transportation like taking the bus or taking Uber. I had to learn how to navigate, learning the bus routes which would take you to different places and the bus hour changes. Sometimes buses go until night and others have shorter hours running. My cousin showed me how to ride the bus, she would tell me which route to take and where it would take me. When I practiced, I told her I did it. I learned quickly how to ride the bus.

I had to ask the bus driver where to get off and where to stop. The bus driver was helpful.

If you are learning, ask somebody that you trust to guide you and practice different routes. Have that person help with planning out the transportation route, timing and stops. Ask about discounts or talk with your Service Coordinator about financial options and support.
